Smith River School students and staff came together in recognition of Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, observed on September 30.

Orange Shirt Day is an opportunity to honor the survivors and remember the victims of Indigenous residential and boarding schools, while recognizing the lasting impact these systems have had on Indigenous children, families, and communities.

By wearing orange and learning about the meaning behind the day, students and staff joined in a message of remembrance, respect, and the belief that Every Child Matters.
